2. What is Polycarbonate?

3. What is PVC?

6. What can I use a chair mat for?
Chair mats are not only designed to be placed under chairs but can be used almost anywhere where you wish to protect your flooring. For example, you can use your chair mat underneath gym equipment, pet food bowls, baby high chairs and home or office furniture.
7. What is the difference between a chair mat for carpet and hard floors?
Chair mats designed for carpet have small studs on the underside which carefully grip to the carpet without causing any damage and ensures that your chair mat stays in place. These cannot be placed on hard floors as they can slide across the surface and scratch your flooring. Chair mats for hard floors are designed with a smooth backed surface. It is recommended to use a chair mat with grippers on a carpeted floor.
8. Can I order a bespoke size chair mat?
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer bespoke size chair mats.
9. Can I cut my chair mat to a bespoke size and shape?
We do not recommend that you cut your chair mat. Any alterations to the chair mat will invalidate your warranty and we accept no responsibility or liability should you damage the chair mat or injure yourself. However, it is possible that the chair mats can be cut, providing that you have the correct tools to do this.
10. How do I clean my chair mat?
We advise that you frequently clean your chair mat, by washing it with warm soapy water and drying thoroughly once cleaned. We suggest that you avoid using strong detergents as some of these can contain harsh, abrasive chemicals which may damage your product. We also suggest that you clean the underside of your chair mat frequently and thoroughly dry the mat, to prevent it attaching to your flooring.
11. Is my chair mat suitable to be placed in direct sunlight?
We advise that you do not place your chair mat in direct sunlight, as over time it may affect the color. However, should you need to place your chair mat in an area with a high exposure to sunlight, clear polycarbonate chair mats are the most suitable, as they will not discolor.
12. Is my chair mat suitable for under floor heating?
If you have under floor heating, we recommend using a polycarbonate chair mat, as they are the most suitable chair mats for use with under floor heating.
13. Which side of the chair mat is the underside?
Chair mats designed for carpets will have small grippers on the underside of the chair mat, which help the chair mat attach to the carpet. For hard floor chair mats, the smoother side of the mat is the underside.
14. Why do some chair mats have a lip?
Some of our chair mats have a lip extension, which would be positioned so that the lip sits under the desk. The purpose of this is to protect the flooring when a chair is tucked under the desk.
15. Which is the most transparent chair mat?
Our glass chair mats have the highest level of clarity. Polycarbonate is the most transparent plastic material. All of our plastic chair mats have a lightly textured surface to add traction to the chair mats for controlled ergonomic gliding.
16. What is phthalate free?
Phthalate plasticizers (substances added to plastics to increase their flexibility, transparency, durability and longevity) have been banned from children's toys and medical instruments. The human health effects of phthalates are not yet fully understood. The risks and effects of phthalates is something that is being studied by several government agencies worldwide.
